About Greg Howes
British runner living in Japan. Nearly three decades of sub-3 marathon running and still chasing improvement.
I've been running competitively for more than 30 years and have maintained a sub-3 marathon standard from my early 20s into my late 40s.
My interests include marathon training, masters running, trail running, strength training, and helping busy runners continue improving as they age.
I write under the pen name G. I. Holmes, sharing practical training ideas for runners balancing work, family, and ambitious goals.

This site is for experienced runners who still want to improve after 40, despite busy careers, family commitments, and limited training time.
Through articles, books, and coaching, I share the lessons I've learned from decades of training, racing, experimenting, succeeding, and making mistakesโso that other runners can continue improving for years to come.
